An Overview of Our Last Two Restaurant Build Projects

While Broadpoint Construction manages commercial construction projects across many asset classes (multi-family, office, and retail to name a few), we’ve found a fun and interesting niche as the preferred contractor for restaurateurs on the Delmarva Peninsula. Given that, we thought we’d share some details on our two most recent restaurant build projects, both of which were completed and opened for business recently.

The front of Cuvée Ray in Rehoboth Beach, DE.Cuvée Ray is a restaurant renovation in Rehoboth Beach for a first-time restaurateur, which we finished in early July. Cuvée Ray is a wine bar and bistro, focusing on promoting a high-end wine experience.

The project involved taking an old building in Downtown Rehoboth Beach, and trying to use as much of the existing structure as possible. The owners, Ray and Debbie Kurz, worked with their architect and Broadpoint to create plans and, from there, we went to work. We didn’t gut the entire interior, but we firmed up the structure and added several elements to make the space more functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Aside from revamping the bones of the building, we refurbished the floors, added new lighting and fixtures, reoriented the bathrooms and brought them up to code, replaced multiple windows, and worked with their designer to build several custom finishes, the most intriguing of which was customized wine storage and racks. We also painted the exterior of the building and upgraded the roof.

Ray and Debbie were onsite every day, working with us, and making sure everything was just as they had envisioned. The whole process took close to four-and-a-half months, and we’re looking forward to enjoying many future dinners there!

Mad Fish is a West Ocean City, Maryland restaurant renovation we started in early March and finished in early June, just in time for the summer rush. It’s a large, two-story, restaurant, and we completely gutted the first-floor interior, other than the kitchen. We were able to go in, start renovating, and build the dining area out very quickly. We also did a very elaborate exterior renovation, as well as a waterfront decking improvement.

There were still a lot of in-field changes, since it was a renovation — issues always pop up in renovations as you uncover old architectural and design features — but we were able to work quickly, covering a lot of weekends, holidays, and overtime to ensure we opened on time.

The owners’ group also had their kitchen vendors in line and working on the kitchen separately. As a result, we opened right on schedule, with soft openings happening starting June 7 and the grand opening on June 15 (both of which we were able to enjoy!).
